This Moving and Assisting Training course is aimed at those staff who move or aid the movement of the service users in their care. The training covers all aspects of correct & safe people handling including lifting aids. Instructions will be included when the training is delivered, allowing staff the use of the actual equipment that they will be working with from day to day. The course is focused on providing attendees with the knowledge to protect themselves and those in their care from injury, whilst carrying out moving & handling procedures.
If you work in health and social care, it is likely you will have to move or handle people as part of your role. Often this will involve the use of specialist equipment such as sliding aids, hoists, slings and handling belts. It is important that you carry out moving and handling activities safely and correctly to prevent the risk of injuries to yourself or others.
Course Requirements
With a broad range of roles, the requirements for induction and mandatory healthcare training becomes very crucial. In addition, there is further requirement for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours which varies massively across healthcare. Many institutional bodies, including the Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCS), and the Royal College of Emergency Medicine (RCEM) require members to undergo 250 hours of CPD every 5 years. Meanwhile the Royal College of Nursing (RCN) requires 35 CPD hours per year.
